Husaberg Race Report – WORCS Round 8

Aug. 10, 2010 By Press Release
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Husaberg Factory rider Nathan Woods arrived at the 8th round of the WORCS with confidence high after two solid finishes at the previous rounds but bad luck and bad weather would put a damper on his result at the conclusion of the Washington WORCS Week event.

Rain the night before had made for a very muddy and slippery course. Woods spun off the line at the start of the event which caused him to come around the first corner mid-pack. He had moved up to 6th place as he weaved about through the tight trees in the woods section but came to a halt moments after when frontrunner Destry Abbott crashed in mid-trail. Abbott created a bottleneck in the trail that caused all but three riders to stop in their tracks until he picked up his bike and moved aside so the others could get around on the narrow single track.

Abbott pulled out in front of Woods after his crash and the two riders battled until Abbott once again went down, this time taking Woods with him. When Woods recovered from this crash he was sitting in 12th and was again pushing to catch back up.

On the second lap Woods stopped in the pits for goggles and was sitting in about 10th position. He continued to charge forward and was sitting in 9th on the tail of 8th place with two laps to go. Unfortunately just as he was moving around 8th he crashed once more and hit the ground elbow first. Woods pulled back into the pits to examine his elbow. After a few minutes he decided he wanted to push through and finish the event. One lap down, he re-entered the course and went on to finish a disappointing but hard earned 13th overall.

Woods will spend the next few weeks recovering his elbow and come out swinging at the next round at Glen Helen Raceway on September 19th. “I am bummed that I had such a bad result at this race. But I am ready for Glen Helen. It is terrain that I am used to and terrain that favours large displacement motorcycles which should be perfect for my Husaberg,” commented Woods.
