Ford F-150 Diesel Truck Confirmed in Video

After our recently story of Ford testing what clearly appeared to be a diesel-equipped Ford F-150 testing in Dearborn, Michigan, we can now further confirm this truck’s existence thanks to video of the truck being tested.

Sources have told us that Ford will use a 3.0-liter engine that is similar to the one recently approved for the U.S. for Range Rover and Range Rover Td6 models, an engine that will produce 254 horsepower and 443 kb-ft of torque in that application. Ford also has a 3.2-liter five-cylinder Power Stroke diesel that could work in this truck, though we’re told Ford plans to opt for the 3.0-liter engine instead.

We also expect this truck will rely on the same 10-speed automatic transmission It is also expected that the diesel is slated to use the new 10-speed automatic transmission that will debut in the 2017 Ford Raptor. We expect the diesel F-150 to go on sale sometime after summer 2016, along with a recently announced hybrid F-150 in 2020.
