Ford to Display F150 Raptor SVT at Crandon TORC Races in 2009

May. 11, 2009 By Press Release
CRANDON, Wis. -- It’s “show time” for Ford Trucks at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway this season, as the manufacturer of the country’s number-one-selling pickup – the Ford F150 – will display the 2010 high-performance off-road F150 Raptor SVT and other models at two Crandon Raceway events this coming season.

A longtime sponsor at the Raceway, Ford Trucks is joined this year by Langlade Ford Mercury of Antigo, Wis. Langlade Ford Mercury is the “official dealer” of the famous track. The Langlade Ford Mercury exhibit at the track will feature the special Ford F150 Raptor SVT model at the June 20-21 Brush Run Races and the September 4-6 World Championship Off-Road Races over Labor Day weekend. Crandon Raceway celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year.

“The Built Ford Tough Truck Division is pleased and excited to again be a part of the Crandon Raceway scene this year,” said Cliff Irey, representing off-road and grassroots motorsports activities, Ford Racing.   “We have participated as a partner with Crandon Raceway for more than a decade and watched it grow into the finest and most exciting facility of its type in the nation We congratulate Crandon Raceway on its 40th birthday and we are proud to once again be the Official Vehicles at the track.”

Ford Trucks are coming off a big year at Crandon in 2008, where pro racing standouts Scott Taylor, Belvidere, Ill., and Ross Hoek, Holland, Mich., both captured World Championship Titles in Ford F150 Trucks. Taylor won short-course off-road racing’s biggest prize – the coveted BorgWarner Cup – while Hoek claimed the PRO 2WD World Championship. Both racers competed in Ford F150s sponsored by Skyjacker Suspensions.

Once again, Ford Trucks is posting a $3,500 contingency prize for any Ford Truck racers winning either the FCP Chairman’s Cup race or the BorgWarner Shootout. The June Chairman’s Cup race is the 16th annual, while the 15th annual BorgWarner Shootout will take place at the Labor Day weekend event.   Both events are Traxxas Off-Road Championship (TORC) Series presented by AMSOIL race weekends.

The Crandon TORC Series events will be the only national short-course off-road racing events where fans can view the special 2010 Ford F150 Raptor SVT up close and personal.
